Die Nachtigall, sie war entfernt,
The nightingale, she was far away,
Der Frühling lockt sie wieder;
the spring lures her back;
Was neues hat sie nicht gelernt,
she has learned nothing new,
Singt alte liebe Lieder.
she sings the old, well-loved songs.
